The Future of Fake I.D.s

Fake drivers licenses are becoming more and more difficult to detect.

Minors have been sneaking into and being served alcohol for many years. The National Minimum Drinking Act was passed on July 17, 1984. This act was created, in part, to prevent teens from crossing state lines, drinking legally, and then driving home intoxicated. Many remember being served underage without having id's checked or without much hassle. In the last ten years, however, due to an increase in bars and clubs having their liquor licenses revoked, a crackdown on underage bar patrons was on. To counter this, with increased technology, overseas companies have been selling near perfect Pennsylvania drivers licenses to underage consumers. www.IDChief.com is know for this. According to reporter Jason Nark, "... the Pennsylvania license, the company claims, is the most authentic ID it makes." In the future, how will the state prevent underage drinking with the current prevalence of these faux licenses? Will an import from these websites be put under a ban? Will the state change it's current licenses?

  1. This is a scary story, but it doesn't surprise me. If this is the future ofID's of course Pa has to create ID"s that counteract these fake ID"S. Unfortunately if an underage person wants to drink their is no full proof plan to prevent this. One suggestion, lets' start at home with parental guidedance.

  2. I find it hilarious with the Superbad McLovin picture. But seriously, it sounds pretty hard to regulate and check something like this. Seems the only way for this to work would for them to be caught in the act with their faulty ID. But as Sandra said, the best way to "prevent" this is to not have your underage children going out to night clubs.

  3. It makes sense that they will be harder to detect because of the technology advancement and what one can do with just about anything. I think a solution for this would be for the driver’s licenses to be changed and a new type of technology should be added onto it that is harder for a person to copy or make a fake of. The only way to beat a technology is to beat it with technology itself.

  4. Something has to be done about fake i.d's. I am not sure what solutions could be used in this case, but it is apparent that something must be done. I am sure the government should be capable of devising a system that can weed out these fakes alot easier than they have now.

  5. I am shocked that I am shocked that a person in another country would do such a thing and for a profit. My hope in humanity is so naive. But, there are bad people everywhere. I have strong feelings about under age drinking and that it is very important to regulate immature adolescence from drinking and then likely operating a vehicle.
